Meghan Viegas has been a CRNP since 2001 and an employee of Golden Living since 2009. In this position, she works with nursing, medical and therapy staff to address acute and chronic health conditions in long and short term care units.

“As a nurse practitioner, I order, diagnose and change medications of our residents and collaborate with the physicians with plan of care,” she says. “I also work with families to alleviate concerns and focus on maintaining quality of life issues. Lastly, I try to reduce hospitalizations if warranted to keep residents comfortable in their familiar settings.”

She believes that having an established relationship with her families and residents is key to providing quality care.

“When there is a change in the condition of the resident,” she says, “it is a little easier to work through the process of providing appropriate goal-centered care this way.”
